Asian equities fell sharply on Wednesday after Wall Street closed lower overnight amid rising expectations that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates sooner rather than later.
China’s Shanghai Composite shed 0.82 percent or 19.02 points at 2,307.51. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng plunged 1.43 percent or 359.93 points at 24,830.52.
Japan’s Nikkei fell 0.41 percent or 63.95 points at 15,685.20. Singapore’s Straits Times was down 0.41 percent or 13.56 points at 3,329.40.
Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted declined 1.26 percent or 118.95 points at 9,315.82. South Korea’s Seoul Composite shut today.
