Capital Stroke : Asian Markets Asian shares surged early Wednesday, inspired by the positive finish in offshore markets and as investors bet on China to step on the stimulus pedal soon. China’s Shanghai Composite index opened up 0.35 percent, extending Tuesday’s 2.9 percent rally, amid news that the government may be stepping up on fiscal policy to support the economy. Nikkei jumps 4.7 percent Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 index staged a comeback amid a broad-based rally, after crashing 2.4 percent to erase all gains made this year on Tuesday. Kospi rises 1.8 percent South Korea’s Kospi index headed north early Wednesday, while the won recovered from Tuesday’s five-year low to trade at 1,194.5 against the U.S. dollar in early Asian trade.
