CAPITAL STROKE UPDATE: ASIAN MARKETS 21-Jul-2015

Capital Stroke : Asian Markets Asian stocks traded mixed early Tuesday, as traders kept a wary eye on the drop in commodity prices. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite opened down more than 1 percent. Elsewhere in the region, the CSI300 index declined 0.7 percent while the smaller Shenzhen Composite reversed a lower open to eke out marginal gains. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index tracked weakness in its mainland peers to hover near the flatline. Japan’s Nikkei 225 touched a near four-week high on its first trading day following an extended weekend, thanks to the yen trading at a near one-month low against the greenback, at 124.3. South Korea’s Kospi index trimmed gains nearly two hours into trade, while the won eased slightly to hit a two-year low of 1,157.1 against the U.S. dollar.
